Jackie Chan Scholarship...

The US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC) is accepting applications for the Jackie Chan Scholarship. Mr. Chan, known internationally for his martial arts films, has established this annual scholarship with USPAACC. It provides financial assistance to Asian American high school seniors, who have demonstrated scholastic achievement, actively involved in volunteer community service and will be pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited educational institution in the United States.

The Jackie Chan Scholarship will provide financial assistance to two students each year. The scholarship is valued up to $8,000 each.

The award recipients will be announced at the 17th Annual Excellence Awards program that will be held in Los Angeles, California in May 2005, during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The Annual Excellence Awards recognize the contributions Asian Americans have made toward education, business, arts, entertainment, sports, science, public and community service.

• At least 16 years of age at the time of application
• A citizen or permanent resident of the United States
• Of Asian heritage
• Beginning full-time study at an accredited post-secondary educational institution in the United States in the Fall of 2005
• Able to attend the 17th Annual Excellence Awards program in May 2005

• Academic excellence with a 3.3 GPA or higher
• Leadership in extracurricular activities
• Community service involvement
• Financial need

• An application for the Jackie Chan Scholarship.
• Information on the proposed course of study and associated costs
• Transcripts of schooling in the past two years
• Two letters of recommendation from those listed as references: one from the high school, and one from a community service organization (in sealed envelopes)
• An essay of 500 words on: How do you plan to use your special talents to achieve your professional goals?
• A 100 words bio and a 2 x 2 photo (Don’t use scan picture)
  (After all, Jackie Chan carved out a corner in the film industry with his martial arts talent.)
  (Application and all supporting materials will be kept confidential; application and letters of recommendation will not be returned.)
  

• Must be used for a full-time course of study at an accredited college and/or university commencing in the Fall of 2005
• Will be paid directly to the recipient’s college and/or university
• Will not pay for correspondence courses, internet courses or study in a country other than The United States
